Former Veterans Affairs Deputy Assistant Secretary Curt Cashour

Curt Cashour served as deputy assistant secretary for public affairs with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington. In this position, he was responsible for oversight of all major communication efforts throughout the department, which has nearly 400,000 employees and an annual budget of more than $200 billion. Cashour led VA’s media relations and social media initiatives as well as the department’s ChooseVA advertising campaign. Prior to his time as VA deputy assistant secretary for public affairs, Cashour served as the department’s press secretary. Earlier in his career, Cashour spent more than three and-a-half years as communications director for the U.S. House of Representatives House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. Cashour studied communication at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, earning his Associate of Arts. He continued his education at Ohio University in Athens, earning his Bachelor of Science in Interpersonal Communication. In addition to his work in Washington, Cashour has served in various public affairs roles with the U.S. Army and as a spokesperson for two presidential campaigns.
